Outrun Arcade Game and Parts
Outrun is simply one of the best driving arcade games of all time. The game sill holds up incredibly well even to this day.
Traditional car racing games always try to make an intense racing experience. They always show cars as they are flying by you at breakneck speeds, with thumping music in the background to create extra anxiety.
What makes Outrun so unique is that even though it is racing game, you feel like you're just taking a stroll in your sports car. You start the game driving around the California coastline. You've got fun beach music playing and you're girlfriend in the passenger seat.
The game had two cabinets. One, was the traditional upright cabinet. The other was a sit down cabinet that also moved while you were driving to give the player a full immersion experience. So if you turned right, the cabinet would move. If you got into a crash the cabinet would shake.
Also, another unique trait about the game was it was one of the first driving games to get away from the overhead perspective and put the view closer to the road, as if you were really driving.
