Mortal Kombat Arcade Game and Parts

Mortal Kombat was Midway's response to the success that Capcom was having with Street Fighter II
The game received a lot of controversy in its time, due to the violence and blood that was shown. By today's standards, it seems very tame and almost comical. But back in its time, Mortal Kombat was the key game that introduced the rating system for video games. Its most famous for creating the fatality trend, in which the character can kill his opponent, quite graphically, by hitting a certain combination of joystick moves and button presses.
In the original Mortal Kombat game, a player chose between seven different fighters. Each one having unique strengths and moves. You could fight against a friend or play against the computer via tournament style.
Due to the game's success and strong following, there have been a number of sequels in the arcades, as well as in just about every video game console that has existed since 1992.
